Richard and Rachel Harris are making the final preparations for their ambitious plan to drive all the way from one end of Africa to the other over eight months starting in May. The couple, who live in Torquay, are planning to use the trip to raise awareness and funds for the charity www.motivation.org.uk in a specially converted Land Rover ‘Azalai’ camper; motivation works with disabled people in the developing world. The World Health Organisation advises that average life expectancy for a paraplegic after they become paralysed is just three more years. In the developed world, most paraplegics can expect a normal life span.
